The X Subscription is the single plan that SpaceXSI, the company formerly called xAI, launched on October 12, 2026. For new customers, it replaces SuperGrok, X Premium and Cursor's own plans. One bill now covers the Grok chatbot, the Grok Bot agent, the Cursor code editor and X Premium perks. It comes in five tiers: Free at $0, Plus at $8 a month, Premium at $30, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200.

If you already pay for X Premium, SuperGrok or Cursor, you have probably seen a "switch" banner. It leaves out the part that matters most. SpaceXSI's own help centre says the switch is permanent: Support cannot undo it, and cancelling later does not bring your old plan back. This guide covers what each tier includes, which one replaces the plan you have now, who should switch, and how to cancel.

The Key Takeaways

  • One plan, three products: The X Subscription bundles Grok, Cursor and X Premium perks in five tiers, from $0 to $200 a month, with one shared weekly usage pool.
  • Premium replaces three bills: SpaceXSI says the $30 Premium tier includes the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+, which it says cost $90 a month combined.
  • Switching is optional and permanent: existing plans keep running, but once you switch, Support cannot undo it and cancelling does not restore the old plan.
  • The Apple trap: if you pay for Cursor through the App Store, switching does not cancel it, and Apple keeps billing you until you cancel in Settings.
  • Cancel where you pay: web plans cancel in the grok.com dashboard, X plans on X, app plans in the App Store or Google Play.

The X Subscription is one plan, sold by SpaceXSI, that puts Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium features on a single bill. The launch post describes it as bringing "together Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor, and X Premium in one plan". SpaceXSI said it would make the plan available to everyone globally over the next few days from October 12.

SpaceXSI announced the plan from its official account the same evening:

What each product does in the bundle

Grok chats and makes images and video, Grok Bot runs tasks for you, Cursor writes code, and X adds the checkmark. Grok handles chat, voice, and image and video generation. Grok Bot is SpaceXSI's agent, which works in the background; we explain what Grok Bot does and who can use it separately. Cursor is the AI code editor made by Anysphere. Its own pricing page now sells the new plan instead of the old Pro and Ultra plans. X adds a checkmark, creator tools and fewer ads.

How the shared usage pool works

Every tier includes one pool of AI usage shared by Grok and Cursor. Inside Grok, the pool covers Chat, Imagine, Voice and Grok Bot. The allowance refreshes weekly, and SpaceXSI's pricing page gives the reason: "so one heavy day never wipes out your whole month". When the pool runs out, you wait for the weekly reset or buy top-ups.

The pool has two limits worth knowing before you pay.

First, it covers SpaceXSI's own models only. Third-party models in Cursor, such as Claude or GPT, are not included on any tier. From Premium up you can still use them, billed at API list price from prepaid credit, from the first request. Second, SpaceXSI publishes the pool only as multiples. Premium is "4x Plus" and Ultra is "50x Plus", but no page states how many messages, images or tokens Plus actually buys.

The X Subscription Plans and Prices

The X Subscription costs $0, $8, $30, $100 or $200 a month, or $80, $300, $1,000 or $2,000 a year on annual billing. Monthly prices come from SpaceXSI's pricing page, which shows no annual option. The annual prices come from the pricing article in SpaceXSI's help centre. Both were read on October 14, 2026. All prices are US list prices before tax.

What Plus leaves out

Plus at $8 is built for X users, not for heavy AI users. It includes Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build, Grok API access and Cursor. But Cursor's pricing page adds: "Only Grok models are available on this plan". Plus has no Grok Bot, no video generation and no Cursor cloud agents.

SpaceXSI's own advice matches. It recommends Plus "for social creators with limited AI usage" and Premium for new AI users. The free tier is limited in ways SpaceXSI does not quantify; our guide to what Grok's free plan includes tracks what you actually get.

What Premium, Super and Ultra add

Premium at $30 is where the bundle stops being an X perk and becomes a full AI plan. It adds Grok Bot, video generation, the latest Grok models, Cursor cloud agents and code reviews, and third-party models in Cursor at API price. Super at $100 adds priority access at peak times. Ultra at $200 adds the earliest access to new products and models. Above Premium, you are mostly buying a bigger pool. For the full feature grid and Grok's API rates, see our complete Grok pricing breakdown.

Annual billing saves two months. Premium costs $300 a year against $360 for twelve monthly payments.

Team plans use the same per-seat prices for Premium, Super and Ultra: $30, $100 and $200. Plus is not available for teams.

What Replaced X Premium and SuperGrok?

For new customers, The X Subscription replaced X Premium, SuperGrok and Cursor's individual plans on October 12, 2026. SpaceXSI's help centre says new customers, "including anyone with only a free X account, start on The X Subscription". Its pricing page now sells only the five new tiers. Existing subscribers keep their old plans unless they change them.

Old plans mapped to new tiers

X Premium maps to Plus at the same $8, X Premium+ maps to the $30 Premium tier, and the $3 Basic tier has no match. Those were X's three tiers before the launch. A capture of X's help centre from October 10, 2026 lists US web prices of $3 a month for Basic, $8 for Premium and $40 for Premium+. It describes Premium+ as including "SuperGrok access, Grok Bot, no ads anywhere".

Which mappings SpaceXSI confirms

Three of those mappings come from SpaceXSI itself. The launch post says Premium includes "The benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+, previously $90/month combined". The help centre tells X Premium+ holders to "choose Premium or higher to keep your X Premium+ benefits". The other rows are our matches on price and features. The old SuperGrok tiers and prices are in our Grok pricing guide, and the old Cursor plans in our Cursor pricing guide.

Do You Have to Switch to The X Subscription?

No. You do not have to switch to The X Subscription. SpaceXSI's launch post says "Nothing changes for existing SuperGrok, Cursor, or X Premium subscribers". Its help centre adds that your current plan, price and features continue unless you change or cancel them. SpaceXSI has published no date for retiring the old plans.

What the banner does not say is that the move is one-way. The help centre is blunt: "The switch is permanent. It can't be undone, and Support can't undo it for you." Your Cursor and Grok accounts merge into one workspace and one bill. Cancelling later "does not separate those accounts or restore your previous Cursor, SuperGrok, or X Premium subscriptions".

Who should switch

Switching pays off for anyone who already pays for two or more of Grok, Cursor and X. An X Premium+ subscriber at $40 who moves to Premium at $30 pays $10 less, keeps the Premium+ benefits on X and gains Cursor. Someone paying separately for SuperGrok and Cursor Pro replaces two bills with one $30 plan. SpaceXSI also says switching comes with limited-time offers, shown in your account's billing settings.

Who should wait

Three groups should not rush.

Cursor users who rely on Claude or GPT should price that usage first. No X Subscription tier includes third-party models; they are billed at API list price from the first request. X Premium Basic subscribers at $3 have no matching tier, so switching raises the bill to at least $8. And anyone on an annual plan has already paid for the year. The prorated refund is fair, but the new plan is charged in full on the day you switch.

If you only wanted a chatbot

The X Subscription fixes subscription stacking by buying everything from one company: Grok for chat, Grok models in Cursor, X for posting. If what you wanted was a strong AI assistant, that is a lot of bundle for one vendor's models. Fello AI goes the other way, so you don't have to choose a side. Grok, ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini sit in one Mac, iPhone and iPad app on one subscription. When Grok's answer looks off, ask another model the same question in the same window, without a second bill.

How to Switch to The X Subscription

You switch to The X Subscription on the web, starting from whichever product you pay for. As of October 14, 2026, the mobile apps send existing subscribers to the web to switch. Where you start matters. According to the help centre, "Starting from X doesn't include Cursor", so anyone with a paid Cursor plan must start from Cursor.

  1. Pick your starting point. Paid Cursor plan: go to cursor.com/unify. Grok or SuperGrok: go to accounts.x.ai/unify, or Settings › Billing on grok.com. X Premium only: open your subscription settings on x.com and choose the upgrade option.
  2. Sign in to every account you want to combine. The email addresses do not need to match. The help centre says to sign in to "the exact Cursor, Grok, and X accounts you want to combine" and to stop before checkout if the wrong account appears.
  3. Connect a personal X account if you want X benefits. Accounts managed by an organisation, including affiliate accounts, cannot be connected.
  4. Choose Plus, Premium, Super or Ultra, review the details, and pay with a card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link.
  5. Check the old subscriptions afterwards. Direct-billed plans are cancelled at checkout. App store plans may not be, as the Apple section below explains.

The full walkthrough, including team plans, is in SpaceXSI's guide to unifying accounts.

The Apple billing trap

If you pay for Cursor through the Apple App Store, switching to The X Subscription does not cancel that Cursor subscription. SpaceXSI says it "can't cancel or refund your Apple subscription", and warns that Apple keeps charging you, "so you could be billed twice". Cancel it yourself in Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Cursor on your iPhone or iPad. Request any refund from Apple.

Grok and X Premium bought in an app work differently.

If you bought Grok, Grok Bot or X Premium through the App Store, SpaceXSI cancels it when you switch. It then asks Apple to refund the unused time, and Apple decides the amount. If you bought them through Google Play, check Google Play after switching and cancel there if the plan is still set to renew. Gifted X Premium and Apple Family Sharing are neither cancelled nor refunded.

What happens to your refund

The refund for your old plan is prorated to the time left in its billing period, and it goes back to the original card. It is not credit. The help centre says the refund is sent "separately from your checkout total, so your new plan is charged at full price". It can take a few days to show up, depending on your bank. A new billing cycle starts on the day you switch.

How to Cancel The X Subscription

You cancel The X Subscription where you bought it. That means the grok.com dashboard for web purchases, X for plans bought on X, and the App Store or Google Play for plans bought in an app. SpaceXSI's subscription terms ask you to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. The plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

Cancel a plan bought on the web

  1. Go to grok.com/dashboard and open Billing & invoices.
  2. Open the options on the Current plan card and choose to cancel.
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm.

Cancel on X, the App Store or Google Play

If you subscribed on X, cancel in your subscription settings on X. If you subscribed in the Grok, X, Grok Bot or Cursor app on an iPhone or iPad, cancel in Settings › your name › Subscriptions. On Android, cancel in the Google Play Store. Deleting the app cancels nothing; our guide to cancelling any AI subscription on Mac and iPhone explains why the App Store route fails most often.

Refunds after you cancel

The X Subscription does not refund the unused part of a period, except where the law requires it. The subscription terms give consumers in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland a 14-day right of withdrawal. You request it by email to [email protected], and the refund is reduced by the days already used. Consumers in Brazil, Mexico and South Korea get 7 days, and in Taiwan 5 days.

Cancelling never undoes a switch. Merged accounts stay merged, and the old SuperGrok, Cursor or X Premium plan does not come back.

The Verdict on The X Subscription

The X Subscription is a good deal for one specific person: someone who pays for two of Grok, Cursor and X today. An X Premium+ subscriber who uses Grok fits too. For that person, Premium at $30 replaces bills that SpaceXSI itself prices at $90. If you run Claude or GPT inside Cursor, or only wanted a cheap X checkmark, the new plan costs more than it looks.

The switch cannot be reversed, so run the numbers before you click the banner. Add up what you pay today. Check how much of your Cursor use runs on third-party models. Cancel any Apple-billed Cursor plan yourself. Nothing forces you to move yet, so waiting costs nothing.

FAQ

Is SuperGrok discontinued?

SuperGrok is no longer sold to new customers, but it is not shut down. Since October 12, 2026, new customers start on The X Subscription, where the $30 Premium tier includes SuperGrok's benefits. Existing SuperGrok subscribers keep their plan, price and features unless they switch or cancel.

Does The X Subscription include Cursor Pro?

Premium and higher tiers include what SpaceXSI calls "the benefits of" Cursor Pro, and every tier includes Cursor. The catch is third-party models. Claude and GPT in Cursor are not part of any tier's usage and are billed at API list price. Plus allows only Grok models.

Does the Grok API require X Premium?

No. The Grok API runs on a separate console.x.ai account that you load with credits. Paid X Subscription plans include API access, but SpaceXSI says API usage is billed separately at standard model rates and does not draw from the plan's usage pool.

Can I undo the switch to The X Subscription?

No. SpaceXSI's help centre says the switch is permanent and that Support cannot undo it. Cancelling afterwards does not separate the merged accounts or restore your previous SuperGrok, Cursor or X Premium plan.

Can I buy The X Subscription in the App Store?

New customers can. SpaceXSI says people who do not pay for Grok, Cursor or X yet can subscribe in the Grok, X, Grok Bot or Cursor apps, billed through the App Store or Google Play. As of October 2026, existing subscribers have to switch on the web. SpaceXSI sells the plan only directly and warns that accounts bought from resellers risk suspension.
