Claude's Connectors Directory lists 986 connectors as of 20 October 2026, up from just over 200 when Anthropic added everyday apps in April. Every popular "best Claude connectors" list is written by a company selling one of them. Jotform puts Jotform first. Drag puts Drag first. The tl;dv list ranks tl;dv second. All of those lists stop at work tools, even though Anthropic's own directory now carries Spotify, Expedia, Zillow, AllTrails and an iMessage extension for the Mac.

This guide ranks the 15 Claude connectors worth adding first, split into work, everyday life and the Mac, with no vendor of our own in the list. Each pick names what the connector can actually do, whether it needs you to sign in, and one prompt to try. Before the list, two short sections answer the questions people search for most: what Claude connectors are, and what data Claude can reach through them.

The Key Takeaways

  • What they are: Claude connectors link Claude to outside apps through MCP, so it can read your data there and take actions, with your own permissions in that app.
  • How many: the directory showed 986 connectors on 20 October 2026, up from over 200 in April. Google Drive, Gmail and Google Calendar top the usage ranking.
  • Free plan: Anthropic says connectors are on all plans, including Free, and Free can add one custom connector. Anthropic's own Gmail and Google Calendar docs still list those two for Pro and up.
  • The gap in other lists: Expedia, Booking.com, Zillow and AllTrails need no account with the service, according to their listings, and none of the vendor-written roundups mention them or Spotify.
  • Mac only: Anthropic's Read and Send iMessages and Filesystem extensions run locally in the Claude desktop app.

Claude connectors are integrations that let Claude access an outside app, retrieve your data from it and take actions inside it, such as creating a calendar event or drafting an email. Anthropic's help center gives the example of connecting Linear to create issues, Slack to send messages and Google Drive to search files. Each connector is an MCP server, the open standard explained in our guide to what MCP is in AI.

Claude connectors come in three forms. Remote connectors are web services you sign in to, and they work on claude.ai, the desktop app and the Claude mobile app. Desktop extensions are local connectors packaged as MCP Bundles (MCPB) that run on your own computer inside the Claude desktop app. Custom connectors are any remote MCP server you add yourself by URL, whether or not it is listed in the directory.

Claude connectors also follow you across Anthropic's apps. According to Anthropic's documentation, the connectors you add on claude.ai are available in Claude Code when you sign in with the same account, and Cowork uses connectors and plugins too. A connector you set up on the web or the desktop app appears on Claude for iOS and Android the next time you log in there.

Claude Connectors vs MCP vs ChatGPT Apps

Claude connectors are MCP servers with a listing, a review label and a one-click setup. MCP is the protocol underneath. The Connectors Directory is Anthropic's catalogue of those servers, and anyone can still add an unlisted MCP server as a custom connector. ChatGPT's equivalent is a separate catalogue with its own rules, covered in our guide to ChatGPT apps. Claude Code plugin marketplaces are a third thing again, which our Claude marketplace guide untangles.

What Data Can Claude Access Through Connectors?

Claude can access only what you can already access in the connected app. Anthropic's help center states that Claude inherits each person's permissions from the connected service. A file, channel or record you cannot open in that service is out of reach through Claude as well. The one exception is a custom connector that uses a shared credential, which reaches whatever that credential can reach.

What Each Connector Can Do With Your Data

What Claude can do with your data depends on the tools each connector exposes. The Google Drive connector, for example, lists tools to search files, read file contents, create, share and trash files. The Uber connector's main tool returns fare estimates and nothing more. Every listing in the directory shows its tool list, so you can see before connecting whether a connector only reads or can also write, send and delete.

Connectors whose directory listing says Sign-in: Not required, such as Expedia, Booking.com, Tripadvisor, Zillow and AllTrails, work without an account at that service. Claude searches the service's public catalogue for you, but the connector is not tied to anything of yours there. Zillow's own setup page states this plainly: its connector cannot see your saved homes or searches. Treat the label as a hint, not a rule: Spotify's listing also says no sign-in, while Spotify's announcement describes connecting your Spotify account for personalised picks.

Anthropic also limits what flows the other way. Its April 2026 announcement of everyday connectors says your data from a connected app is not used to train Anthropic's models, and the app does not see your other conversations with Claude.

How You Control Each Action

You stay in control of each action a connector takes. Claude can ask for approval before it uses a connector's tool, with Allow once or Always allow as the choices. Under Customize > Connectors you can set each tool, or each group of tools, to Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked. Connected services process your data on their own infrastructure under their own terms, and Anthropic's help center notes that those servers can sit outside the United States.

The 15 Best Claude Connectors at a Glance

The 15 best Claude connectors split into six for work, six for everyday life and three for the Mac. Every pick in the table carries Anthropic's verified label in the directory, which means Anthropic tested its tools for quality and compatibility, not that it ran a security audit.

Best Claude Connectors for Work

The best Claude connectors for work are the ones that hold the documents, email and calendar you already paste into chats. They are also the most used: Google Drive, Gmail and Google Calendar sit at the top of Anthropic's usage-ranked directory.

1. Google Drive: Best for Finding Your Documents

The Google Drive connector lets Claude search your Drive, read Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and PDFs, and create or upload files. Google built it, and its tool list also includes sharing and trashing files, so set the destructive tools to Needs approval if you share a Drive with colleagues. If your company runs on Microsoft instead, Anthropic's own Microsoft 365 connector searches SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook and Teams. It works on every Claude plan, but it needs a work or school Microsoft account and an administrator's consent for your organisation.

Try asking: Find the budget spreadsheet I edited last week and list the three biggest cost lines.

2. Gmail: Best for Inbox Triage

The Gmail connector lets Claude search your email, read whole threads and answer questions with citations back to each message. What it can do beyond reading is unsettled. Anthropic's Gmail setup page says Claude reads and searches only and cannot send, and lists the connector for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Google's directory listing, added in March 2026, shows 29 tools including create_draft, reply and send_message. Open the connector's tool permissions after you connect, and set anything that sends to Needs approval or Blocked.

Try asking: Summarise every unanswered email from this week that asks me a direct question.

3. Google Calendar: Best for Scheduling

The Google Calendar connector lets Claude answer questions about your meetings, attendees and free time. Like Gmail, its write access is contested: Anthropic's Calendar setup page calls it read-only and lists it for Pro and up, while Google's directory listing shows create_event, update_event and suggest_time tools. Either way it pairs naturally with Gmail, because Claude can read a thread that proposes a meeting and check your calendar in the same conversation.

Try asking: When am I free for 45 minutes next Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon, and who is in my Thursday meetings?

4. Notion: Best for Notes and Team Wikis

The Notion connector lets Claude search your workspace, fetch pages, create and update pages, build databases and add comments. It is the strongest pick for anyone who keeps meeting notes, reading lists or a personal wiki in Notion, because Claude can file its own output straight back into the right page.

Try asking: Turn my notes from today's three meetings into one Notion page with action items at the top.

5. Slack: Best for Catching Up

The Slack connector lets Claude search public and private messages you can see, read channels and threads, send messages, and create or update canvases. It earns its place after a week off, when the useful question is what changed, not what was said.

Try asking: What decisions were made in #product while I was away, and who made them?

6. Canva: Best for Quick Designs

The Canva connector lets Claude search your designs, read their content, generate new designs, autofill templates and export them. Canva's listing also includes folder tools and comments. It is the fastest route from a Claude conversation to a finished social graphic or one-page flyer.

Try asking: Make three Instagram post designs announcing our Saturday opening hours and export them as PNG.

Best Claude Connectors for Everyday Life

The best Claude connectors for everyday life are consumer services that Anthropic began adding on 23 April 2026, and several of them need no account at all. They turn Claude into a front end for music, travel, homes and the outdoors, which is a different job from searching Google Drive or Slack.

7. Spotify: Best for Music and Podcasts

The Spotify connector gives Claude personalised music, podcast and audiobook recommendations based on your listening history, and you can preview, save or play what it finds. Spotify's announcement says both Free and Premium Spotify listeners can use it on Free, Pro and Max Claude plans. Only Premium users can describe a vibe or mood and get a playlist built for it. It also supports Spotify Connect, so Claude can switch playback between your devices.

Try asking: Recommend a podcast episode about space exploration that fits a 40-minute commute.

8. Expedia: Best for Flights and Hotels Together

The Expedia connector searches flights and hotels worldwide from one prompt. Expedia's listing promises real-time pricing and availability and says no sign-in is needed. eDreams, added in October 2026, does the same flight-plus-hotel job if Expedia does not cover your route well.

Try asking: Find a direct flight from London to Lisbon on 14 November and a hotel under 150 euros a night near Alfama.

9. Booking.com: Best for Places to Stay

The Booking.com connector has one tool, accommodations_search, and it does that one job well: search and compare hotels and homes with filters for price, ratings and facilities. If reviews matter more to you than price, the Tripadvisor connector compares hotels by Tripadvisor ratings, reviews and nearby attractions instead.

Try asking: Show me pet-friendly holiday homes in Cornwall for four people, rated 8.5 or higher.

10. Zillow: Best for House Hunting in the US

The Zillow connector searches US homes for sale and to rent, compares neighbourhoods, checks a Zestimate and estimates what you can afford, including a monthly mortgage payment. It needs no Zillow account. Zillow's setup page also lists what it cannot do. It is read-only, and it cannot contact an agent or book a tour. It also cannot look up a home that is currently for sale by its address, so ask Claude to search for that home instead.

Try asking: Find three-bedroom homes under $600,000 in Denver with a garage, then estimate the monthly payment on the cheapest one.

11. AllTrails: Best for Weekend Hikes

The AllTrails connector finds trails near a place or inside a map area, pulls trail details and gives a weather overview for a trail. AllTrails says its catalogue covers more than 500,000 curated trails, and the listing says no sign-in is needed.

Try asking: Find a dog-friendly loop under 10 km within an hour of Boulder and check the weather for Saturday morning.

12. Strava: Best for Your Own Training Data

The Strava connector reads your activities, performance, heart-rate zones and gear, so Claude can spot patterns in your training. Strava's help center says it is read-only, cannot upload or edit activities, and works only for paid Strava subscribers: a subscription still on trial does not get access. It is the one pick in this group that costs money on the service side.

Try asking: Compare my last four long runs and tell me whether my pace at the same heart rate is improving.

More Everyday Claude Connectors Worth a Look

Uber gives fare and arrival estimates between two US locations and hands the actual booking to the Uber app. Instacart turns a recipe into a grocery cart and needs sign-in. Audible recommends audiobooks and plays previews. Todoist manages your tasks, and Granola lets Claude query your meeting notes and transcripts.

Best Claude Connectors for Mac

The best Claude connectors for Mac are desktop extensions that run locally inside the Claude desktop app rather than in Anthropic's cloud. A desktop extension runs with your own user permissions on the Mac, and Anthropic's documentation says it transmits no data unless the extension is designed to.

13. Read and Send iMessages: Best for Messages

Read and Send iMessages is an Anthropic-made extension that lets Claude read, search and send messages in Apple's Messages app and look up contacts. It asks for permission through macOS security prompts before it touches Messages or Contacts. Its most useful job is the summary: what you missed in a busy group chat.

Try asking: Summarise my unread iMessages and tell me which ones need a reply today.

14. Filesystem: Best for Local Files

Filesystem is Anthropic's extension for reading, writing, editing, moving and searching files in folders you allow. It turns Claude into a file assistant for jobs like renaming a folder of exports or merging notes into one document. Sometimes the job is only a question about one PDF or Word file. Then Fello AI skips the setup: drop the file into the chat on your Mac and ask GPT, Claude or Gemini about it directly.

Try asking: List every file in my Downloads folder older than six months, grouped by type.

15. Control your Mac: Best for Automation

Control your Mac runs AppleScript through macOS's osascript command, so Claude can open apps, change system settings and script repetitive tasks. Kenneth Lien built it and Anthropic lists it as verified. It has one tool and a lot of reach, so keep it on Needs approval. For Claude operating the screen itself, see our guide to Claude computer use on Mac.

Try asking: Turn on Do Not Disturb, close every app except Safari and Notes, and set the volume to 20 percent.

How to Add Connectors to Claude

You add a connector to Claude from Customize > Connectors on claude.ai or in the desktop app, then sign in to the service if it asks. Anthropic's connector setup guide lists these steps:

  1. Open Customize > Connectors. In the desktop app, select Customize in the sidebar, then Connectors.
  2. Select Discover, then search by name or browse the categories.
  3. Open the connector's page and select Connect to Claude.
  4. Sign in to the service and approve the access Claude asks for. On claude.ai the sign-in page opens in the same tab. In the desktop app it opens in your browser.
  5. Check that the connector appears under Your connectors with the status Connected.

To use a connector, select + in the message box, open Connectors and make sure its toggle is on for that conversation. If you run 10 or more connectors, Anthropic recommends switching Tool access from Auto to On demand to leave the conversation more room. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner has to add each connector for the organisation first, and members then connect their own accounts. Mac desktop extensions install differently: drag the .mcpb file onto Settings > Extensions in the Claude desktop app.

Are Claude Connectors Free?

Yes, mostly. Anthropic's pricing table marks connectors and desktop extensions as included on the Free, Pro and Max plans, and its April 2026 announcement says connectors are available on all plans. Free accounts can add only one custom connector by URL. Individual connectors can still differ. Anthropic's own setup pages list Gmail and Google Calendar for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. The Microsoft 365 page says that connector works on every plan, including Free.

The connected service can still cost money. Anthropic's setup guide notes that each service is run by its provider, which may require its own account or paid plan. Admin controls for connectors, such as restricting a connector to read-only for the whole organisation, are Team and Enterprise features. Our Claude Cowork guide covers how connectors and plugins work inside Cowork on the paid plans.

Are Claude Connectors Safe?

Claude connectors are as safe as the developer behind each one, and Anthropic says so directly. A Verified label means Anthropic tested the connector's tools for quality and compatibility. Anthropic's verification page states it is not a security audit, and the developer can change the tools after review. Community connectors are screened but not reviewed in depth. Custom connectors you add by URL are not reviewed at all.

Anthropic's own safety advice comes down to four habits. Connect only to developers you trust. Read the permission scopes during sign-in. Use Always allow only for trusted servers. Turn off connectors you are not using in the + menu, and block single tools you do not need. A connector that reads email or web pages can also carry hidden instructions, the risk explained in our guide to prompt injection. Keep any tool that sends, deletes or pays on Needs approval.

Which Claude Connectors to Add First

Add three Claude connectors this week, not fifteen. Pick the one app you paste from most, which for most people is Google Drive or Gmail. Add one consumer connector that needs no account, such as Expedia or AllTrails, because it shows what a connector can do with zero risk to your accounts. On a Mac, add Read and Send iMessages only if a busy group chat is a real daily problem. With 986 entries in Anthropic's directory, the best filter is the one this list started from: what you already copy into Claude by hand.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many connectors does Claude have?

Claude's Connectors Directory showed 986 connectors on 20 October 2026. The number changes often, because anyone on a paid Claude plan can submit a connector for review, and the directory ranks entries by usage.

Are Claude connectors just MCP servers?

Yes. Every Claude connector is an MCP server. Directory connectors add a listing, a review label and one-click setup, and custom connectors are MCP servers you add by URL. Both run on the same infrastructure, according to Anthropic's documentation.

Do Claude connectors work on iPhone?

Yes, for remote connectors. A connector you add on claude.ai or the desktop app becomes available in Claude for iOS and Android the next time you log in. Anthropic described mobile support as beta in April 2026. Desktop extensions such as Read and Send iMessages run only in the Claude desktop app.

What is the difference between Verified and Community connectors?

A Verified connector has had its tools tested by Anthropic for quality and compatibility. A Community connector has been screened but not reviewed in depth. Once connected, both have the same access, and neither label is a security audit.

Can Claude send emails through the Gmail connector?

It depends on which source you trust. Anthropic's Gmail setup page says the connector is read-only and cannot send. Google's directory listing shows send_message, reply and forward tools. Check the tool list under Customize > Connectors after connecting, and set any sending tool to Needs approval or Blocked.
