No, you cannot use Claude without login on claude.ai or in Anthropic’s own apps. Every new Claude account needs a phone number that can receive texts, from a supported country, and you must be 18 or older. Anthropic’s help center says plainly that phone verification is required for all new users and that “there isn’t a way to skip this step.”

That does not mean you are stuck. A few services put Claude behind their own front door, and one of them, Duck.ai, needs no account at all. This guide covers what Anthropic asks for when you sign up and the routes that reach Claude without an Anthropic account. It also rates how private each route is and names the free no-login Claude sites to close straight away.

The Key Takeaways

  • No official guest mode: claude.ai, the Claude desktop app and the mobile apps all require a Claude account.
  • The phone check is mandatory: a six-digit SMS code to a number from a supported country. VoIP, Google Voice, app numbers and landlines are rejected, and one number covers at most three accounts.
  • Duck.ai is the free no-account route: it serves Claude Haiku 4.5 with a daily limit, strips your IP address and does not store chats by default.
  • Fello AI skips the Claude login: Claude runs inside the app with no Claude account and no phone verification, on Mac, iPhone and iPad.
  • Avoid look-alike sites: pages promising free Claude with no login are not run by Anthropic, and no Anthropic privacy promise covers what they do with your messages.

No. Anthropic does not offer a guest mode for Claude on any of its own surfaces. Anthropic’s login help article covers the web, the desktop app and the mobile apps. On each one, it says, “you will see two different options for logging in to your Claude account.” There is no third option that skips the account.

The Claude sign-in page currently offers four ways in: Continue with Google, Continue with Apple, Continue with email and Continue with SSO for company accounts. None of them is a password. Claude logs you in with a one-time email link or a Google or Apple sign-in. Anthropic says “it’s not possible to create a dedicated password for your Claude account at this time.”

Claude’s free plan costs nothing, but it still starts with an account. If the account itself is fine and you only want to know what the free plan includes, our guide to whether Claude AI is free covers the models and limits.

What Claude Asks For When You Sign Up

Beyond the login itself, Claude asks for three things when you sign up: a phone number that receives texts, a location in a supported country and confirmation that you are 18 or older. Each one is a separate reason people search for Claude without login, so each gets its own answer.

A Phone Number That Receives Texts

Claude’s phone check is the step that stops most people. When you create a Claude account, Anthropic sends a six-digit verification code by text message, and you type it in to finish creating the account. Anthropic’s phone verification help article lists the numbers it rejects: “VoIP numbers, Google Voice, phone numbers created using apps, landlines, or other numbers that can’t receive texts.”

Three more rules in the same article catch people out. First, the limit per number: “We only allow a maximum of three Claude accounts to be verified with the same phone number.” Second, the number on a Claude account cannot be changed once it is verified, so Anthropic tells you to use one you will keep long-term. Third, there are no exceptions: without a phone that receives texts, you cannot create a Claude account. Anthropic says the number is used only for verification.

A Supported Country

Claude only works for people who are physically in a country on Anthropic’s supported countries list, and the phone number has to come from one too. The list is long. It includes the United States, Germany, Czechia, Spain, France, Portugal, Brazil and Mexico, among many others. Anthropic’s supported-countries page counts use “by persons while physically located in an unsupported region” as unsupported, so a VPN does not make an unsupported country a supported one.

You Must Be 18 or Older

Claude is for adults only. Anthropic’s getting-started guide says “you must be at least 18 years old to use our services,” and you confirm your age during account setup. If Anthropic’s systems flag an account as possibly belonging to a minor, the account is paused until the owner passes an age check with Yoti, by selfie age estimation or an ID photo. Anthropic says it receives only a pass or fail result. Separately, Anthropic is rolling out identity verification through Persona for a few specific capabilities, which asks for a government photo ID, but that is not part of normal sign-up.

How to Use Claude Without an Account: The Routes Compared

Three routes get you to Claude without an Anthropic account, and only one of them needs no account of any kind. The table puts them side by side with Claude’s own free plan for reference.

Duck.ai: Free Claude Without Login

Duck.ai is the closest thing to Claude without login. It is DuckDuckGo’s AI chat, it runs in any browser at duck.ai, and its free tier includes Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5. DuckDuckGo calls it “a free and account-less way to access popular AI chatbots.” You open the page and start typing. Only the paid models ask you to sign in to a DuckDuckGo subscription.

To chat with Claude on Duck.ai with no account:

  1. Open duck.ai in any browser. The DuckDuckGo browser is not required.
  2. Click the current model name in the chat input area to open the model list.
  3. Pick Claude Haiku 4.5.
  4. Type your question. Start a new chat when you change topics, because long chats use up the daily limit faster.

Which Claude Model Duck.ai Gives You

Duck.ai’s chat models help page lists Claude 4.5 Haiku as one of six free models, next to Mistral Small 4, GPT-5.4 nano, GPT-5.4 mini, gpt-oss-120b and Gemma 4 31B. Haiku 4.5 is Anthropic’s small, fast model from an earlier generation. It handles quick questions, rewrites and summaries well. It is not the Claude people praise for long documents and careful writing. DuckDuckGo subscribers get more: the Plus plan adds Claude Sonnet 4.6, and the Pro plan adds Claude Opus 4.8. Even on those plans, Duck.ai runs older Claude versions than claude.ai.

How Private Duck.ai Is

Duck.ai is built for anonymity. DuckDuckGo says it removes metadata such as your IP address before a prompt reaches the model provider. As a result, requests to Anthropic “appear as though they are coming from DuckDuckGo rather than individual users.” By default, Duck.ai “does not record or store any of your chats,” and conversations are not used to train models. DuckDuckGo’s agreements require providers to delete what they receive within 30 days at most, with exceptions for safety and legal compliance. For Claude, Anthropic may hold a chat in short-term memory for up to an hour for prompt caching, never written to disk. Recent chats stay on your own device unless you turn that off.

Duck.ai Limits

Duck.ai is free with a daily usage limit. DuckDuckGo does not publish the number, and it enforces the limit anonymously. A VPN or a mobile network can trigger the limit error early, and DuckDuckGo suggests switching to Wi-Fi or another VPN location if that happens. File support is narrow: images and PDFs work on some models, PDFs are capped at 15 pages on the free tier, and spreadsheets are not supported.

Poe: Claude Without an Anthropic Account

Poe gives you Claude without an Anthropic account, but not without an account. Poe, from Quora, lists current Claude models such as Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Claude Opus 5.5 next to GPT, Gemini and Grok models, and its login page asks you to sign up first.

That solves a different problem from Duck.ai. If your blocker is Anthropic’s phone check, Poe is an option. If your blocker is giving any service your details, Poe is not.

Why to Avoid Sites Offering Claude Without Login

Skip any site that promises free Claude online with no login and is not one of the services above. These pages show up in searches for Claude without login, and they use Claude’s name on domains Anthropic does not own.

The problem is not only quality. You cannot check which model answers you, or whether it is Claude at all. Your messages go to an operator whose privacy terms you have not read, and none of Anthropic’s or DuckDuckGo’s promises apply to them. If a no-login page asks for an email address, a payment card or a browser extension before it lets you chat, close it.

For the wider habit of keeping chats private, see our guide to how to use AI without giving up your privacy.

Can You Use Claude Code Without Login?

Claude Code can skip the browser login, but not the account behind it. On first launch, Claude Code opens a browser window to sign you in. Anthropic’s documentation says that if the ANTHROPIC_API_KEY environment variable is set and you approve the key, “Claude Code skips the login prompt.” An API key still comes from a Claude Console account, though. Companies have one more route: Claude Code also authenticates through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud’s Agent Platform or Microsoft Foundry, which use your company’s cloud account instead of a Claude login. For the costs on each route, see whether Claude Code is free.

Use Claude Without Logging In to Claude With Fello AI

If you want the current Claude and not an older model in a browser tab, Fello AI runs Claude inside a native app on Mac, iPhone and iPad. You never sign in to Claude. Fello AI does not connect to a Claude account, so there is no Anthropic sign-up, no SMS code and no phone number to give. You do not need a Fello account either. Signing in is optional and only turns on sync between your devices.

Claude is one model in the app, next to GPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Kimi, GLM and Qwen, and you switch between them in the same chat. The free tier lets you ask up to 5 questions an hour on the premium models. The full plan costs $11.99 a month or $89.99 a year, billed through your Apple ID.

Fello AI is rated 4.7 stars on the App Store. It also searches the web, reads PDFs and Word files, and builds PowerPoint decks and Excel sheets, so it covers the jobs a Claude account would.

The Bottom Line

Claude without login does not exist on Anthropic’s own apps, and the phone check has no way around it. For a quick, private question, Duck.ai is the honest answer: free, no account, IP stripped, and a capable small Claude model. For the current Claude in a real app, without an Anthropic account or a phone number, use Fello AI.

If neither suits you, the Claude free plan is still free. It just starts with a phone number, and its limits are explained in our guide to Claude’s usage limits. For more free options beyond Claude, see our ranking of the best free AI chatbots.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Claude without an account?

Not on claude.ai or Anthropic’s apps, which all require a Claude account. Duck.ai offers Claude Haiku 4.5 free with no account, and Fello AI runs Claude with no Claude account and no phone verification.

Can I sign up for Claude without a phone number?

No. Anthropic requires phone verification for every new account and says there is no way to skip it. The number must receive texts and come from a supported country. VoIP, Google Voice, app-generated numbers and landlines are rejected.

Is Claude on Duck.ai the real Claude?

Yes. Duck.ai sends your prompts to Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5 after removing your IP address. It is a smaller, older Claude model than the ones on claude.ai, and DuckDuckGo’s paid plans add Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.8.

Can I use Claude with a VPN from an unsupported country?

Anthropic’s supported-countries page says no. Use by people physically located in an unsupported region is not supported, whatever their connection shows, and the phone number must also come from a supported country.

How many Claude accounts can one phone number verify?

Three. Anthropic allows a maximum of three Claude accounts per verified phone number, and the number on an account cannot be changed after verification.
